Superconducting Magnet for Crystal Growth

AVANT MICRO SYSTEMS is pleased to announce our partnership with Sumitomo Heavy Industries. Sumitomo Heavy Industries is the world lead in the field of Superconducting Magnet design for use with single-crystal silicon grower. Sumitomo Heavy Industries’ superconducting magnets are safe and highly reliable devices that cool themselves with their own cryocoolers without the use of liquid helium.

By using such magnetic field in the grower, customers can achieve higher crystal growth rate, decrease of growth variations (striations) in the crystal, allows the growth of low oxygen crystals with the required diameter and having similar properties as the FZ grown crystals

There are 2 type of magnets offered:

Horizontal magnetic field type superconducting magnets (A horizontal magnetic field is applied to the silicon melt by four superconducting coils.)

Cusp magnetic field type magnets (A cusp magnetic field is applied to the silicon melt by a pair of upper and lower superconducting coils.)
